Bodh Gaya: Mahabodhi Temple

Bodh Gaya is where Shakyamuni, the Sage of the Sakya clan, achieved enlightenment while meditating under the Bodhi Tree (a Bo or fig/pipal tree (Ficus religiosa), actually; the original was destroyed quite some centuries ago and has been replaced a couple of times. Bodh Gaya/Bodhgaya is not the original name, either; Uruvela, Sambodhi, Mahabodhi and Vajrasana are the earlier names.

What follows are some shots of the Mahabodhi Temple complex. It's quite beautiful and doing my best not to sound sentimental, moving to be here.
