A couple of weeks back I headed downtown to check out the Texas Contemporary Art Fair. I thought I'd be seeing a bunch of contemporary Texas art, along the idea of the Fresh Paint show of some years back. Well, no. It was a fair or a fest or some such of contemporary art and to be sure, local galleries and artists were represented, but it was ,ore inclusive than that. There was a lot of interesting (-damning-with-faint-praise) work and some really eye-popping pieces, too. I wish I had gotten there earlier to see some of the more conceptual works and hear some presentations. There were some fun pieces like the two below. I drank a beer out of a leaky cup and headed out.
